Research/evaluation design: data management

This section of the Iris Ethics Knowledge Base sets out the requirements for managing data in evaluation, social research, and market research projects. These requirements draw primarily on NS 3.1, Element 4 (collection, use, and management of data and information) and the related guidance on privacy, secondary use, and retention.

Data management should be planned before collection begins and documented in a data management plan that is proportionate to the risks and sensitivity of the project (NS 3.1.44).
